Show it, don’t tell it
Here’s a tip for professional storytellers on the teaching circuit: bring your gear! 😉
Show and tell. It makes it fun for everyone. And it’s way easier to explain stuff.
I lecture about working with branding and storytelling to university students in journalism and business courses. (I could say “around the world,” which is technically true, but so far it’s just in Denmark and USA.)
Teaching helps me to become a better storyteller. When giving a lecture on what you do and how you do it: you see your work in a new light — through the eyes of college students starting to connect theory and practice.
The reflection triggers new development in my own work.
Plus, teaching is fun. I enjoy the challenge of educating a new generation of storytellers.
